Berlin, Germany, [YEARS]: The Ultimate Longevity Testing Experience
A day of poking, probing, and precision. Because biohackers don’t guess—we test.
Walking into the YEARS longevity clinic in Berlin felt like stepping into the future—not some sterile, intimidating medical facility, but a warm, luxurious haven designed for deep, personalized health exploration.
The welcome was calm and professional, and before I even started testing, I was escorted to a private suite that would be mine for the entire day.
I’d brought a friend with me, and the space was posh and serene, with thoughtful touches like plush seating and a curated menu of snacks and drinks (timed carefully to fit the testing schedule), and an organic wholesome lunch served after all the big testing.
This wasn’t a quick appointment; this was a full nine-and-a-half-hour journey into my biology, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.—a day dedicated entirely to uncovering every detail about my body, brain, and long-term health. I wore only my LiliWarrior non toxic clothes the entire day (of course!).
I was assigned to Dr. Ann Netzer (in the photo with me at the top of this article), who guided me throughout the tests and later analyzed all the results. She’s both a cardiologist and a functional medicine practitioner—a true dream doctor for any biohacker! Warm, knowledgeable, and always smiling, she made the entire experience nothing short of amazing.
The Testing Marathon: From VO₂ Max to Full-Body MRI
The day began with an extensive series of blood tests—far beyond a typical lab panel. We looked at micronutrient levels, inflammatory markers, advanced lipid profiles, hormones, cancer markers, and glycation indicators. Every vial collected was a window into my health. I stayed with the same super efficient nurse all day long, making the experience totally seamless.
Then came one of my favorite parts: a VO₂ max test paired with the most thorough lung analysis I’ve ever undergone. As a mountaineer, I thought I’d seen it all, but this level of precision was remarkable. The results were not only fascinating but deeply encouraging—I’ll break them down in a future article.
They also measured my bone density (excellent!) along with a wide range of additional health markers.
From there, I moved into thoracic and abdominal ultrasounds, performed by a cardiologist, Ann Netzer, who examined every organ and artery with expert care. Later in the day, I experienced a full-body MRI, a surreal moment of lying perfectly still while advanced imaging mapped my body from head to toe.
A Full Sensory and Neurological Deep Dive
The testing wasn’t limited to internal scans. They assessed my balance, coordination, vision, and hearing. The most surprising discovery?
For the first time in my life, the ear that was deaf since birth responded to a few tones. Proof, for me, that biohacking is working—not just in theory but in measurable outcomes.
Luxury Meets Precision Medicine
Between tests, I returned to my private suite—a quiet, comfortable sanctuary where I could review notes, relax, and even enjoy carefully timed refreshments. The experience was seamless, German-engineered to perfection: every step flowed smoothly, every test was meticulously explained, and yet it never felt rushed or impersonal.
It was a stark contrast to the usual healthcare experience; this was a personalized, luxury-level deep dive into longevity.
Why It Matters for Biohackers and everyone interested in living their best life
This day in Berlin perfectly illustrated my mantra: We don’t guess. We test.
Every data point collected, every scan, every vial of blood became part of a precision health blueprint—a roadmap for not just surviving but thriving. This is predictive medicine at its finest: identifying subtle changes before they become symptoms, optimizing performance while everything is still functioning well, and designing strategies that extend both healthspan and lifespan.
One might wonder why American insurance companies don’t cover this type of testing. After all, their costs would almost certainly drop if they could identify serious conditions before they became serious.
In Germany, private health insurances cover the first-level test, which is already impressively thorough. No matter where you live, I encourage you to check with your insurance provider to see if it might cover the full cost—or at least part of it. Knowledge is power. And being able to address medical conditions before they turn into real problems is a game changer.
Or… if your insurance doesn’t cover it, take a closer look at your spending habits over the year—drinks at bars, daily coffees at Starbucks or elsewhere… it all adds up. Before you know it, you’ve easily spent the $3,000 needed for your first-level testing session.
The Takeaway
When I walked out of the clinic at 6:30 p.m., after nearly ten hours of testing, I was tired but exhilarated. I had been poked, scanned, and analyzed from every angle, but I left with something priceless: clarity.
In upcoming posts, I’ll share more insights from this experience—especially the surprising wins (like my “deaf” ear waking up!) and the areas I’ll focus on next in my biohacking journey.
YEARS in Berlin has set a new global standard for longevity testing. If you’re serious about understanding and optimizing your health, this is not a luxury; it’s a must-do investment in your future self.
Because biohackers like us?
We don’t wait for problems to arise.
We measure, we adjust, we thrive.
And you should do, too.
