🧬 Biohacking My Skin Age: What Really Works

I love measuring everything: skeleton age, bone density, biomarkers, inflammation levels, skin and scalp microbiome… and of course, my skin age.

Over the years, I’ve met 35-year-olds with tired, damaged skin, and 65-year-olds with luminous, youthful complexions.

Is it all genetic? Of course not. In fact, the vast majority of what we see in the mirror is a direct result of lifestyle:

☀️ Playing pickleball or tennis every Saturday under the midday sun?
🍷 Regular alcohol consumption (even if it's “just on weekends”)?
😠 Chronic frowning?
💼 A stressful life – demanding job, emotional turbulence, toxic relationships, cheating partners, demanding kids, or family tension?
😴 Poor sleep hygiene?
🚬 Smoking – past or present?
🍟🥤You eat ultra-processed foods, high in sugar, seed oils, and additives?

These factors age your skin. Period.

I’ve made very intentional choices:

  • Never smoked. Yes, even when I was a teenager and everyone did. They called me “Granny Valou”

  • Never had a single drop of alcohol in my life. Yes, even when I was told I was (and still am) a party pooper because of this.

  • Cut out toxic relationships early. It’s easier than you think.

  • Live a happy, well-balanced and drama free honest life

🌙 I’ve worked hard to optimize my sleep quality — and it’s paying off.

That said, I don’t exactly baby my skin... I spend 3 months a year in Bora Bora, a month above 18,000 ft in Nepal, and cycle outdoors daily when the weather allows. I thrive in the elements — and it shows… just a little 😉
