My father is 84. And he looks 10 years younger, thanks to his efforts.

And if you're thinking, “Oh, he’s lucky, it’s just genetics,” let me tell you — his twin brother has already passed away… after years of illness linked to a “typical” lifestyle: little to no exercise, traditional French food, and so on.

So my dad is in full “I’m changing how my genes express themselves” mode (yes, the famous epigenetics you’ve heard about).

Honestly, nothing frustrates me more than people diagnosed with a serious condition who don’t do everything they can to change the game… who stay passive in the face of a bleak prognosis. I’m not saying you can change 100% of everything, obviously. But often, we have tools to slow things down, make them more bearable, or even reverse the course.

Diagnosed 18 years ago with emphysema, doctors gave my dad less than 6 months to live.

Today, he hikes or swims several hours a day, lives an active, biohacker lifestyle, and refuses to be defined by a medical label.
